We are looking for a CREATIVE and COMPASSIONATE team of awesome people to build and play with kids this summer at our arts/engineering maker camp. We want artists, engineers, creatives of all types, out of the box thinkers, and people who are kids at heart and willing to try new things!
At MBC we believe that kids are whole people deserving of our time, respect, energy, and love. We are seeking a diverse team to create a special community building experience for our campers this summer. Responsibilities
- Plan and run activities/project for groups of campers with lead team
- Follow weekly or daily schedules taking into account children’s age groups and interests
- Lead recreational and educational activities throughout the day
- Escort and supervise children, while playing WITH them.
- Educate campers through project exploration and builds
- Set up and maintain equipment, as well as clean up and organize materials.
- Resolve occasional behavioral issues between children
- Make sure all safety rules are followed
- Ensure site is clean and sanitized each day
- Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed
- Keep accurate incident logs
Skills
- Experience as Camp Counselor or similar role working with children or willingness to just jump in feet first and give them your all.
- Willingness to be messy, wet, sweaty, tired, battling kid colds, wear costumes, play make-believe, be absolutely ridiculous and silly, tell a million jokes, and hear the same joke 1 million times.
- Familiarity with various arts, crafts, storytelling, theater, and or engineering medias.
- Be a patient, flexible, and reliable member of a team
- Be able to stay organized and follow a structured schedule
- Be reliable and supportive member of a team
- Have a love and curiosity for children, seeing them as whole autonomous people
- An energetic, silly, and/or positive personality is a must!
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to follow strenuous activities like standing for long periods of time, running, crouching, sitting on the floor, or carrying equipment up to 50lbs)
- High school diploma and 18 years old
- Pass a level 2 background check
- Complete all paid pre-camp trainings (dates May 22nd-30th)
