Manitou is a premier Maine summer camp where campers and staff members intentionally come together to form a vibrant community.
Our Director of Basketball is a member of our leadership team. They will develop and coach a program aimed to improve our athlete’s physical, mental, and emotional skills. You will oversee, mentor, and guide the professional development of -six camp counselor coaches. Under your direction, athletes will focus on improving their sports specific skills, game IQ, love of the game, and overall physical fitness. The program will also teach confidence, growth mindset, and teamwork skills.

What do we expect?
- Our top priority is the care and safety of the child. You will appropriately supervise campers at all times. Our training helps you be aware of and implement safety guidelines.
- We will train you to apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and youth empowerment.
- Create and implement a Basketball Program with coaching strategies designed to support athletes in achieving their goals
- Get to know every athlete well and respond to their individual needs.
- Mentor athletes to foster athletic, emotional, and social growth
- Be a role model to others in your attitude and behavior. You will make friends from around the world. Relationships formed at Manitou last a lifetime.
- Set a good example for campers and others regarding general camp procedures and practices, including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
- 4 years experience coaching, required, and with certifications, preferred
- Proven track record of program development and management
- An excellent relationship builder - quick to connect, build trust, and rapport
- A goal-oriented coach - motivated to support our athletes in achieving their goals
- A creative problem-solver - with an empathetic approach to customer service and team management
- A growth mindset - an orientation towards learning and development; willing to receive and implement feedback and learn from mistakes
- Available and on-site for the dates of your session(s), staff orientation, and post-camp:
- Staff Orientation: June 9-19
- Camp Dates: June 19 to August 5
- We provide a travel stipend, housing, and meals.
- Compensation base begins at $8,000 plus bonus opportunities (through offering additional clinics)
