Bartender Job Description
Summary of Position:
This position plays a major role in a guest’s dinner and/or bar experience. Consistency is a key element in a positive experience, which is achieved by always following recipes. A bartender must be friendly, outgoing and possess good communication skills. A bartender should be organized and able to think and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure. This job operates behind the bar and working with a variety of guests and coworkers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain a customer focus while performing duties.
- Check customer identification to ensure customer is of legal age to consume alcohol and that the customer is a current member of Camp Runinmuck Campers Association.
- Serve alcohol responsibly.
- Place current bar tabs in front of guests always.
- Have knowledge of what liquor, wines and bottled and draft beer we handle.
- Have knowledge of drink specials or beer specials that are running.
- Receive and serve beverage and/or food orders from customers seated at the bar.
- Record drink/food orders accurately and immediately into the register system.
- Be aware of the food special of the day. How it is prepared and how much it is.
- Be interactive with customers suggest drink specials, food specials, snacks.
- Accept customer payment, process credit card charges and make change (if applicable).
- Routinely maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the bar, all its utensils and bar equipment.
- Wash and sterilize glassware and put away.
- Assist in limiting the alcoholic consumption of customers by taking measures like persuading customers to stop drinking, ordering taxis or arranging for transport of intoxicated customer.
- Ensure the bar is stocked adequately for the day’s service or if closing stocked for the opening of the next day’s service.
- Rotates and restocks bar coolers from inventory in back.
- Notifies someone quickly to change keg on empty taps.
- Cleans bar surface during and after shift.
- Informs manager or assistant of new liquor or supplies that are needed or items that customers are requesting.
- Notify owner/manager any time a customer is not satisfied with their experience.
- Turns on/off promotional signage, lights in restaurant/bar area.
- Always maintains a safe work environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other staff members.
- Must be able to work unsupervised.
- Must be able to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Be able to walk and stand for long periods of time (up to 6-8 hours).
- Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver trays of food or move carts with beer or kegs frequently weighing up to -20-30 pounds.
- Be willing to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed.
- Punctual and reliable attendance.
- Be able to work in a fast-paced restaurant/bar environment.
Job Type: Part-time
