Position Summary: Camp Runoia is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated General Cabin Counselors for the summer of 2025. As a cabin counselor, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for campers. You will guide and support a cabin of campers in their daily activities, fostering a sense of community and encouraging personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Safety: Provide a safe and nurturing environment for campers, ensuring their well-being at all times. Actively monitor camper behavior and promote positive interactions.
Cabin Management: Live in a cabin with campers, creating a supportive and engaging atmosphere. Encourage teamwork, respect, and cooperation among cabin members.
Activity Leadership: Facilitate and participate in a variety of camp activities, including arts and crafts, sports, swimming, hiking, and evening programs. Help campers develop new skills and build confidence.
Mentorship: Serve as a role model and mentor to campers, providing guidance and support in their personal and social development. Foster independence while ensuring campers feel valued and heard.
Communication: Maintain open communication with campers, parents, and fellow staff members. Address any concerns or conflicts promptly and effectively.
Camp Spirit: Promote camp values and traditions, encouraging a sense of belonging and community among campers and staff.
Qualifications:
Age: Must be at least 18 years old by the start of the camp season.
Experience: Previous experience working with children in a camp or educational setting is preferred, but not required. A positive attitude and a passion for working with youth are essential.
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Basic first aid and CPR certification is a plus.
Character: Must demonstrate responsibility, patience, creativity, and enthusiasm. Ability to adapt to different situations and manage various camper needs.
