About the position:
As a Nurse you will be an invaluable member of the Camp Scatico community as a frontline resource to ensure the health and safety of the entire camp population. Your duties may include:
- Health screenings of campers and staff, including temperature checks, skin checks, and health attestations;
- distribution of camper and staff medications
- organization of patient paperwork including medical logs;
- care for campers and staff including tick checks and removal; topical skin conditions; dehydration; viral and bacterial infections;
- manning of Health Center telephones and other Health Center communications.
- Communication with camper parents regarding their children’s health as needed
- Caring for campers who must spend the night in the Health Center
As a member of Scatico's community, Nurses are encouraged to live on-site, are expected to follow camp’s code of ethics (provided during the interview process), and are encouraged to enjoy all that camp has to offer (lake access, evening programming, etc.)
About Camp Scatico:
A 7-week residential summer camp in the Upper Hudson Valley for campers aged 8 through 15. Scatico provides an overnight camp experience that is values-based, community-oriented, and filled with camp spirit.
Qualifications:
- Certified in New York State as an RN or LPN
- Experience providing medical treatment to children
- Available for at least a week in the range between June 21 - August 15
- Able to live on-site at Camp Scatico in Elizaville, NY
Compensation and time off:
- Room and board is provided (3 meals a day plus snacks) and lodging in staff housing.
- Nurses work 6 days/ week, roughly 8 hours/ day. They receive 1 day off per week.
