Job Summary
Camp Somerset is a premier residential summer camp in Smithfield, Maine for girls ages 7-15. Having only opened in 2018, Somerset has one of the newest and most modern facilities in all of camping, and is a warm, welcoming, inclusive, and spirited community.
We are seeking licensed RNs for the summer of 2025 who will collaborate to oversee the health and well-being of the community, evaluate medical needs, respond to any medical emergencies and distribute medications. Our Health Center team consists of eights RNs, a student nurse, and an on-site MD.
Our population is made up of very healthy children though they will, however, not feel well on occasion. Camp nurses provide first aid care for campers and staff, oversee the administration of medications to campers and staff, interface with the camp doctor and coordinate visits to a physician when needed, monitors health and cleanliness standards, organize paperwork, and maintain all electronic medical logs and records. Working with the Camp Director, the camp nurses helps to provide and monitor adequate physical health conditions at the camp and promote a camp culture of physical and emotional health and wellness.
Campers or staff with serious ailments/injuries are transported to the local hospital or urgent care, all within 15 minutes of camp.
The 2025 summer will include approximately 375 campers and 220 staff.
Responsibilities and Duties
Duties include:
- Caring for ill and injured campers and staff
- Communication with parents, visiting doctor and camp directors
- Organization and dispensing of medication
- Responding to all medical emergencies
- Updating, as needed, all camper and staff medical records
- Facilitating a camp culture of health and wellness
Qualifications and Skills
Licensed nurse in the state of Maine. Reimbursement is available for all necessary fees.

ONE OPENING IS FOR A RESIDENTIAL NURSE TO LIVE AT CAMP AND ONE OPENING IS FOR A COMMUTER NURSE.
Salary based on experience and varies for residential/commuter.
