Position Overview
Camp Winaukee is seeking a dynamic, experienced watersports professional to lead and oversee our vibrant lakefront program. As Waterfront Director, you will supervise a team of up to 15 watersports counselors and lifeguards, manage daily operations, and ensure the safety and quality of all lakefront activities.
Our scenic waterfront offers:
- Waterskiing & Wakeboarding
- Deep Water Swim (with inflatables)
- Paddleboarding, Canoeing & Kayaking
- Sailing & Fishing
- Boating Excursions
This is a live-in position at our all-boys residential sports camp, serving campers ages 7–15 across 5- and 7-week sessions.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all lakefront operations with a strong focus on safety, structure, and camper engagement
- Lead lifeguard training & certification orientation at the start of the summer
- Supervise and support waterfront staff to ensure energetic, fun, and skill-based instruction across all activities
- Implement and manage emergency and safety protocols across all waterfront zones
- Deliver one-on-one and group instruction to help campers grow their skills and confidence on the water
- Collaborate with the Camp Director on staffing, facilities, equipment, scheduling, and program development
- Ensure compliance with ACA standards and all relevant safety guidelines
Qualifications
- Lifeguard certification (LGT) and CPR/First Aid (or ability to obtain)
- Prior experience managing waterfront programs or aquatics teams strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and risk management skills
- Comfortable leading training sessions and giving feedback
- Passionate about youth development in a summer camp setting
