JOB SUMMARY
Works with other Department Managers and Medical Staff to acquire the optimal price, quality, and quantity of supplies according to best Materials Management practices. Coordinates the Capital Acquisition Process to optimize value in capital purchases. Works in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide planning, direction, organization and leadership in the delivery of services within the department, hospital and clinics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates the capital acquisition process to optimize value in capital purchases.
- Ensures hospital departments receive adequate and necessary supplies in a timely manner.
- Monitors Backorders and supply chain disruptions.
- Collaborates with department managers and others to establish and maintain adequate supply levels and confirm appropriate substitutes throughout the organization, while reducing surplus inventory.
- Maximizes GPO contract compliance by coordinating with other Department Managers/ Directors and Senior Leadership. Manages the supply expense through contract compliance, supply expense reduction, utilization programs, and implementation of inventory management techniques. Analyzes supply expense, PAR levels, contract compliance and tracks KPI metrics monthly. Focuses on improving standardization and utilization of supplies throughout the organization.
- Responsible for department scheduling and training to maintain quality service levels and staff knowledge on DNV standards and all other applicable state laws and hospital policies.
- Develops departmental budget as well as policies and procedures that comply with hospital polices and state or federal laws.
- Coordinates annual inventory counts for the organization.
- Maintains record of supply recalls and outdates.
- Develops employees to meet compliance requirements, expectations of quality of service through training, coaching, mentoring and performance feedback.
- Maintains good interdepartmental and intradepartmental relationships by providing the highest level of services, management assistance and open communication.
- Participates in various committees to maintain best Materials Management Practices.
- Formulates strategic goals and coordinates project implementation.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
- Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- BS, BA or MS in related field of work.
- Licensure
- AHRMM Certification preferred
- Experience
- 5 years in material handling supply, chain logistics and contract management
- Completes Mandatory Education to include annual Patient Safety Fair.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good interpersonal skills needed to work with staff, physicians, vendors, and others.
- Able to communicate and negotiate positively under stress.
- Analytical skills related to data trends and reports.
- Computer knowledge including the ability to enter material into electronic record and operate software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to operate fax, computer, and copy machine to perform the duties of the position.
