General Definition of Work :
Performs responsible semiskilled and human support work in the transportation of pupils to and from school and special events; does related work as required. Reports to the director of operations and area bus coordinator.
Qualifications :
- Hold valid VA license to drive a Vehicle.
- Twenty-one years of age.
- Physically able to operate a school vehicle safely.
- Able to read and write.
Essential Functions / Typical Tasks :
Driving school vehicle; picking up and delivering students to / from school.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
General knowledge of the problems involved in operating a school vehicle; general knowledge of the geography of the County and the location of streets; skill in the safe operation of a school vehicle; ability to detect malfunctioning equipment; ability to assist children using patience and understanding.
Education and Experience :
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the eighth grade and some experience operating automotive equipment.
Physical Requirements :
This is medium work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, peripheral vision, visual inspection involving small defects and / or small parts, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
Special Requirements :
Possession of an appropriate Virginia driver's license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
