What are the responsibilities and job description for the LABORER position at CAMPBELL TRANSPORTATION COMPANY INC?
Laborers are responsible for the safety of fellow teammates, and the environment. Laborers will perform tasks associated with cleaning and repairing tank barges, as well as equipment cleanliness and maintenance in all weather conditions outside. Work is performed on a 12-hour shift. This position will require overtime.
Essential Laborer Responsibilities:
- Work in a safe manner at all times, adhering to all company safety regulations and procedures.
- Inspect, correct, or promptly notify others of any conditions that may impact the safety of individuals or equipment.
- Effectively utilize all required safety equipment as specified by company policies.
- Remove materials from barges using shovels, brooms, hoses, pumps, and vacuum trucks when appropriate.
- Operate pumps to dewater barges efficiently.
- Clean both the exterior and interior areas of barges in an environmentally appropriate manner.
- Handle rigging during crane operations and signal the crane operator effectively.
- Inspect cables, wires, and lines to ensure they are in suitable condition for use.
- Utilize appropriate power tools for necessary repairs.
- Engage in painting tasks as required.
- Safely enter confined spaces in accordance with company policy.
- Familiarize and comply with all CTC policies, USCG, and federal regulations.
- Patrol the premises, conduct barge checks, and monitor after-hours activities as required.
- Assist the purchasing department with daily procurement activities at Georgetown, including but not limited to order processing, vendor communication, purchase order tracking, and inventory management.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Minimum Educational and Job Qualifications:
- Must possess or have the ability to possess Transportation Worker's Identification Card (TWIC)
Preferred Educational and Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience in a similar position within the marine industry
- Prior experience in a safety sensitive position
Physical Capabilities:
Must be able to perform the following:
- Traverse barges a minimum of two (2) miles per day.
- Transport equipment of 60 to 100 pounds up to 1000 feet.
- Ascend/Descend a 90 degree ladder up to 40 feet.
- Move, transport, and position equipment up to 100 pounds.
- Position self to move through 18-inch diameter hatch.
- Move two (2) feet horizontally and vertically.
- Maintain constant communication with team members.
- Ability to recognize and identify distant objects, and recognize distances between objects
- Constantly work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Constantly standing
- Work shift a min. of 8 hrs. (overtime could be required)
- Pass Respirator fit testing
