STATUS: Part Time/Adjunct – Summer Term

Description

The Department of Pharmaceutical & Clinical Sciences in Campbell University's College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences seeks a qualified instructor for the Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) program to teach CLNR 525: Medical Ethics. CLNR 525 is an online 8-week course that primarily focuses on medical ethics as it relates to clinical research. Medical ethics in clinical practice may also be addressed. The instructor will need to be familiar with historical cases as well as current events, as these topics will be extensively used to highlight key principles of medical ethics. During the course, the instructor will aid students to understand medical ethics and satisfy the requirement of human subjects training required for clinical investigators by the National Institutes of Health.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage course materials from learning objectives and selected textbook provided by the Department Chair.
  • Select and compile tests, assignments and/or online discussion exercises that permit measurement of performance relative to the course learning objectives.
  • Teach the assigned class in accordance with the learning objectives in the modality selected by the Academic Director.
  • For an online course, Campbell’s Powell training must be completed prior to teaching the course.
  • Evaluate and assess student performance.
  • Send grades on the Blackboard Grade Center as well as Campbell’s Self-Service portal. Final grades will be sent to the Program Manager for submission to the registrar’s office.
  • Respond Promptly to Grade Determination.
  • Accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work with the Christian mission of Campbell University must be maintained.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • A terminal degree in a related field is required.
  • Industry experience desired.
  • Experience in teaching adult students, specifically in higher education, desired.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Communicate effectively through both oral and written channels.
  • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with University faculty, staff, and students
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and technology in general.
  • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
  • Upon hire, broad knowledge of Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX and FERPA guidelines.

  • All baccalaureate and graduate work must be documented with official transcripts submitted to the University upon request.
  • Upon hire, the successful candidate may need to travel to the main campus at Buies Creek, NC for an interview, meeting and/or training.
