Position Summary :
This position exercises an Admissions Counselor's independent judgment and responsibilities, focusing on prospective transfer students and parent experiences while on campus. As the primary counselor who meets one-on-one with visiting prospective transfer students and parents, this counselor provides professional guidance while independently interpreting and applying University policies. This counselor provides leadership of the daily transfer visit program involving other admissions professionals. This position advises his / her supervisor and the Enrollment Management Leadership team as appropriate.
This Admissions Counselor will also supervise special transfer projects and strategies associated with transfer student recruitment, such as the Campbell Assured program (a partnership with select North Carolina community colleges), where independent judgment, interpretation of transfer admissions policies, and significant autonomy in executing duties are critical to the University's enrollment and revenue success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Review files and recommend admission decisions of acceptance, deferral, or denial.
- Counsel students regarding the admissions process, decision, and next steps for enrollment (i.e., enrollment deposit, housing, health services, event registration, etc.).
- Act as the primary point of contact for admitted and deposited students, engaging with them through phone, written communication, and in-person interactions.
- Develop strategies for interacting with prospective students and parents on campus in a manner that enhances the probability of enrollment and successful assimilation to life at Campbell. This includes communication with students, families, group leaders, and internal campus partners. Interpretation and application of university admissions policies are central to this task, including independent judgment and authority to address and resolve special situations.
- Lead individual and group transfer admissions appointments and speak as the university's official representative (this may also include independent, off-campus representation).
- Communicate and explain policies and respond to questions that may include deviation from standard procedures to address a special circumstance appropriately.
- As a university representative, establish and maintain relationships with students and parents, University faculty and staff, and outside connections.
- Oversee and lead special initiatives for the transfer admissions area of Undergraduate admissions (e.g., the Campbell Assured program, a partnership with select North Carolina community colleges).
- Identify special initiative opportunities for transfer student recruitment and advise the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Director of Transfer Admissions.
- This position holds primary responsibility for reviewing post-transfer visit surveys and taking appropriate action.
- Support territorial transfer recruiting and relationship management.
- Travel for recruitment is required, including overnight stays.
- Support the Director of Transfer Admissions with new admissions counselor onboarding and training, and other professional development initiatives.
- Maintain and complete projects and tasks as assigned.
