The Business Manager, School of Medicine has responsibility for assisting in the development and implementation of the processes for planning, organizing and verifying the financial services and fiscal management of the Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM). The goal of this position is to enable Campbell University’s School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM) and its programs to achieve its operational and strategic goals and initiatives in compliance with legal and regulatory financial requirements. This position will be a highly visible position within CUSOM and will serve as an assistant to the Vice President for Business and CFO and the Medical School’s Dean regarding the successful financial management of the organization.

This position will be a highly visible position within CUSOM and will serve as an assistant to the Vice President for Business and CFO and the Medical School’s Dean regarding the successful financial management of the organization.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for working with the Vice President for Business and CFO, Medical School Dean, and Associate Deans to maintain financial records for the organization.
- Proactively work to help manage and organize the financial operations of CUSOM including financial planning, business planning, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Assist in developing, interpreting, and communicating institutional policies on finance, accounting, budgeting, and internal controls for CUSOM.
- Generate or assist in the generation of financial statements, budget, analytical reports, and data for reporting to various governmental and other entities.
- Provide assistance and guidance regarding management of assets and financial trends within CUSOM.
- Work with CUSOM department leadership to implement financial plans, benchmarks, and budgetary performance metrics.
- Act as a liaison with Business Office and Office of Sponsored Research Advancement to track and report all grant and research expenditures.
- Responsible for the development of proformas and the management of information related to Graduate Medical Education and Facilities that support that work.
- Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of federal, state, Graduate Medical Education Medicare/Medicaid, and managed care reimbursement payment methodologies and compliance issues.
- Act as a liaison with University Accounting Department to process purchase requisitions, check requests and travel forms, while ensuring accurate coding and adherence to budget parameters.
- Ensure contract billing is on schedule and financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
- Reporting of finances, including projections and variance analysis to Dean and to School leadership. The reporting and analysis include General Funds, indirect cost recovery, sponsored income, grant revenue (direct and indirect), etc.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, professional networking, and affiliations.
- Maintain a strong technical aptitude of the University’s accounting and data extraction systems.
- Participate in organizational committees as requested by the Dean of the Medical School.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required, Master’s desired.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
- Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector is also desired.
- Proven knowledge in the areas of gathering and evaluating financial information, financial and budgetary forecasting, cash flows, and experience managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting).
- Extensive knowledge of electronic accounting and information systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written channels.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
- Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.
