Position Summary:
The Director, Hallmarks and Character Education will provide collaborative leadership to the Educating Character Initiative (ECI) grant focused on character, initiative, and calling. They will provide expertise, oversight, and collegial support for building the foundation of character education and hallmarks into the curriculum at Campbell University. The Director must be knowledgeable and experienced in work around calling and purpose as well as have experience in character education. This grant-funded position requires a student-centered, motivated, creative, and conscientious individual with excellent organizational, supervisory, and administrative skills. The Director is part of the team facilitating a three-year grant awarded through the Educating Character Initiative at Wake Forest University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support for the ECI grant in collaboration with the principal investigators
Provide support, resource, and guidance for faculty, staff, and students regarding the Campbell hallmarks
Oversee the development of a character education curriculum and hallmarks for undergraduate academic programs at Campbell University
Oversee curriculum revision for integration of character education into coursework
Collaborate with first year seminar coordinators and Spiritual Life staff to support character education curriculum design and revision
Support peer education and training
Host course design workshops
Provide feedback to syllabus revisions
Convene a regular Community of Interest for faculty implementing character education and the hallmarks
Oversee all aspects of the digital portfolio pilot including curriculum development and design
Oversee assessment for the effectiveness of the digital portfolio
Create a recommendation regarding the implementation of a digital portfolio for as a capstone of the Campbell educational experience
Convene and support the Faculty Fellowship program
Develop materials for faculty/staff character education retreats
Collaborate with ECI grant team to map and assessment of character education and hallmarks curriculum in undergraduate programs
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to FERPA and other state and federal mandates
Other job-related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
- Master’s degree required
- Knowledge of concepts of purpose and calling, career development, and digital portfolio development
- Experience working within higher education
