This position requires flexibility and to be available to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records as requested
- Develop and implement schedules for mowing, fertilizing, watering, reseeding, trimming shrubs, tree care, spraying flowers, etc.
- Provide supervision and oversight of the grounds crew staff in the absence of the Grounds Manager
- Organize work orders so that task are completed in a timely and efficient manner
- Safely operate small and large equipment such as mowers, tractors, weed eaters, backhoes, chain saws, dump trucks, edgers, street sweeper, forklifts or aerial lift
- Perform assigned tasks with appropriate equipment, using hand or power tools, and in accordance with written or oral instructions by the Grounds Manager
- Read directions, product and equipment labels, diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacture’s specifications
- Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including FERPA and other state and federal mandates
- Other job-related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
- High School diploma or GED required
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture or related field desired
- Four (4) years commercial landscape and rose culture experience desired
- Must possess a valid NC Driver’s license
- NC public pesticide applicator’s license in Turf and Ornamental or the ability to acquire within 45 days of employment
- Knowledge of all mowing, brick laying and backhoe equipment
- Ability to identify trees, shrubs, plants, flora and fauna as well as native diseases, insects, and rodents
- Knowledge of site, soil and environmental conditions, hardiness zones, water, and nutrition need of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs and grasses
- Knowledge of proper pruning techniques for all vegetation, flora, fauna, trees and shrubs
- Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion at interactions with colleagues, faculty, staff, students and public
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people
- Exercise good judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet set deadlines
- Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment
- Ability to work outside the hours of 7am to 6pm; with occasional evenings and weekends required
