Position Overview:

The Assistant Director of Store Operations will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless integration and management of store-level operations. Reporting directly to the National Director of Store Operations, this role focuses on driving operational consistency, mentoring General Managers (GMs), and aligning store practices with company-wide standards (80/20 Activities) and strategic goals. This is an exciting opportunity for a proven leader with multi-site operational experience to help elevate our stores and teams to the next level. This role will require travel 50% of time onsite to various locations, the other 50% will be based at a home store location. 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Oversight

  • Ensure GMs are effectively fulfilling their roles as integrators at the store level.
  • Mentor and coach GMs, fostering their leadership growth and ensuring they are equipped to build high-performing teams.
  • Support the development and placement of the right talent in GM positions, ensuring alignment with company values and operational goals.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee adherence to company best practices across all stores to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with GMs to resolve cross-departmental challenges, fostering harmony between sales, service, finance, and other store functions.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Budgeting and Expense Management

  • Lead the annual budgeting process for assigned stores, ensuring realistic and strategic financial planning.
  • Review and approve expenses maintaining financial discipline and alignment with company priorities.

Performance Management

  • Ensure JobTracks or similar performance management systems are implemented and monitored for GMs and their teams.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews for GMs, providing actionable feedback and ensuring accountability.
  • Use performance data to identify and address inefficiencies, leveraging metrics to drive improvement.

Resource Allocation

  • Act as a liaison between store-level teams and national directors (sales, service, finance) to coordinate resources and expertise.
  • Ensure GMs are effectively utilizing corporate resources and directing their teams appropriately.

Change Management and Integration

  • Serve as a change agent during transitions, ensuring smooth integration of new processes, systems, or practices.
  • Address resistance to change at the store level, fostering buy-in and alignment with strategic goals.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience in retail, dealership, or operational management, preferably in a multi-site context.
  • Strong understanding of cross-functional team dynamics and the ability to mediate between departments.
  • Financial acumen, including experience with budgeting, expense management, and profit optimization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to mentor GMs and build strong relationships with national directors and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive consistent execution across diverse locations.
  • Familiarity with industry and company-specific processes, best practices, and cultural values (preferred).
  • Valid drivers license and a good driving record is a requirement
