Job Description:
The Music Instructor will be responsible for rehearsing with campers and overseeing the organization of our annual music concert. The role will also involve designing and implementing fun and engaging activity sessions that develop our camper’s passion for music. Music is a very popular activity at Camps Kenwood & Evergreen. The Music Department is well equipped, with a range of electric and acoustic instruments (guitars, pianos, drums, bass, etc.), housed in its own teaching space.
This is an 8 week, paid position for the summer of 2025. The dates will be (June 15th - August 9th).
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge/skills:
- Experience teaching music to children aged 8-15
- Experience of organizing music concerts/recitals
- Ability to plan, organize and lead rehearsals (small groups and one to one)
- Ability to play and teach a combination of the following instruments - piano, guitar, bass, drums, singing
- Ability to accompany soloists and groups
- Strong communication & organizational skills
- Strong interest in connecting with others and being part of a collaborative music
K&E staff members should be self-starters who understand the needs of our campers. Days will consist of teaching music to small groups of campers with a range of ability. Towards the middle of the summer we will switch focus and begin preparing for our annual music concert. This will involve scheduling rehearsals and working with campers to select suitable songs and ensuring they are ready to perform.
Every staff member has a designated supervisor that will provide regular feedback and support, including weekly check-ins. Staff development is at the forefront of our employee management, and we strive to make sure staff leave feeling more confident in their personal and professional skills.
Salary is $2600 Travel (based on location traveling from) for 8 weeks. Employment also includes shared accommodation, meals and laundry services.
