Position Overview
We are seeking a forward-thinking and results-oriented Director of Curriculum & Instruction to lead the development, enhancement, and assessment of curricula across multiple academic programs. This role will work directly with Program Directors to ensure that curricula align with learning outcomes, industry standards, and accreditation requirements. The Director will also oversee the curriculum design and review processes across these departments, monitor student and faculty performance, and report on course and program outcomes. They will collaborate with internal teams to optimize programs for transferability & relevance. This role is pivotal in ensuring continuous improvement in curriculum design and instructional methodologies, as well as compliance with institutional and external reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Review:
- Oversee the design, development, and review of programs & curricula to ensure alignment with learning outcomes, industry standards, and best practices in higher education.
- Work with faculty to regularly evaluate and revise curricula to ensure academic rigor and relevance to the job market.
- Collaborate with Program Directors and faculty to integrate emerging trends and technologies into the curriculum.
- Assessment Alignment and Oversight:
- Develop, implement, and oversee program and course assessment strategies to align with learning outcomes and industry expectations.
- Monitor and assess student learning outcomes to ensure continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with faculty and academic leadership to develop assessment protocols and tools that accurately measure student progress and program effectiveness.
- Work with the Program Directors to conduct Program & Course Assessments.
- Instructional Implementation and Technology Integration:
- Ensure successful transition to and implementation of Campuswire across programs, providing training and support for faculty and staff.
- Monitor and analyze student performance data on the platform to ensure instructional effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Support faculty in leveraging technology to enhance teaching methodologies and student engagement.
- Transfer Services and Program Optimization:
- Partner with the transfer services department to optimize curricula for seamless transferability to other institutions.
- Ensure that programs are designed with articulation agreements in mind, facilitating smooth transitions for students seeking to continue their education elsewhere.
- Accreditation Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure that all curricula and assessments comply with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee student outcomes assessment and coordinate with departments for annual and external reporting.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements and ensure academic programs comply.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with academic leadership, faculty, and support teams to align curriculum development and instructional practices with institutional goals.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, or a related field is required.
- Doctorate in Education or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and higher education assessment.
- Proven track record of developing and enhancing academic programs and ensuring accreditation compliance.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and technology-driven instructional models is highly preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design, assessment strategies, and learning outcomes alignment.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use student performance metrics to drive curriculum improvements.
- Familiarity with accreditation processes and transfer services in higher education.
- Proficiency in educational technologies and instructional design software.
