Position Overview:
As the Shop Floor Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, mechanical, minor electrical, troubleshooting, and repairs to production equipment
- Respond to production maintenance requests by supervisors and/or the In-House Production Manager promptly
- Communicate with the In-House Production Manager regarding any downtime or maintenance issues that may affect production
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Perform planned preventive maintenance on production equipment according to the Preventive Maintenance Program and schedule
- Lubricate, clean, maintain and repair machinery, equipment and tools
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Maintain adequate parts, supplies and equipment for the production and maintenance departments
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed
Let's Talk About You:
- High School diploma/GED
- 5 years of Maintenance experience
- Building trades’ certificate, or equivalent, is considered an asset
- Minimum 3 years experience in the operation and maintenance of sewing equipment
- Good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Fire Code
- Able to create alternative solutions to problems
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management skills
- Basic computer skills to respond to email inquiries and place orders; MS Office and Excel
- Must be comfortable with heavy lifting up to 50lbs
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, operate proactively, work as a team and handle challenges
- Excellent decision-making abilities, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Ability to evaluate options and generate solutions
