Salary

The Diesel Engine Mechanic (HDM) is responsible for performing inspections, major and minor repairs, overhauls, and servicing on all types of locomotives. Qualified Rate: $33.34 Per hour.

Job Description

As a Diesel Engine Mechanic (HDM), you will be working on all types of equipment and structures designed to support the distribution of freight across North America. You'll inspect, service, and maintain locomotives in accordance with federal and company regulations. This includes changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning, and adjusting parts. You will also use electric and oxy-acetylene welding equipment, lubrication equipment, and other vehicle repair tools and equipment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Valid CDL for the class and type of equipment operated
• Ability to certify company equipment in accordance with state standards
• Welding skills
• Basic computer skills
• Displays good verbal, reading comprehension, and writing skills

Others

Newly hired Diesel Engine Mechanics (HDM) take part in several weeks of training which includes classroom instructions and field training. The classroom training will take place at the CN Campus in Homewood, IL. The training guides the new Diesel Engine Mechanics (HDM) through the critical safety skills required to work on the railroad. Once the classroom training is complete, the Diesel Engine Mechanics (HDM) will complete on-the-job training to enhance his/her knowledge and skills.

Salary : $33
