Job Description
The conductor position is a key role in our train crew, requiring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. As a conductor, you will work in a fast-paced environment, switching rail cars, making or splitting up trains in rail yards, or moving rail cars between rail yards.
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate train movements, including coupling and uncoupling cars
- Signal crew members for engine or train movement using specific signals or radio
- Maintain a thorough understanding of General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR), general orders, and bulletins
- Provide flag protection and relay signals to trains in emergency situations
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to pass physical job tasks, written examinations, and safety instructions
- Strong communication skills and ability to multitask
