SUMMARY
The Surgical Technology Director is responsible for all aspects of the Surgical Technology program and its required clinical experiences students are enrolled in; the design, delivery, and evaluation of curriculum for the program in a safe and appropriate instructional space; and responsible for assisting students in finding positive related placement. Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of program staff.
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
- Possess a minimum of an Associate Degree; and
- Have documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning;
- Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency;
- Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA);
- Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
- Preference may be given for a standard teaching certification with vocational certification

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and manage program staff. Responsibilities include departmental recruitment, selection, hiring, orientation, assignment of duties, performance appraisal, and professional development.

The primary work environment is in a classroom environment that regularly requires employee to sit, stand and / or walk for extended periods of time. Requires reliable, dependable and punctual attendance. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds.
