Primary Assistant Teacher
Pay Range - $15.50 - $16
Canandaigua Montessori School is looking for caring, patient and respectful assistant teachers to join our school for the remainder of the 2025 school year. An assistant teacher helps in planning and implementing ideas to assist the lead teacher in creating a beautifully prepared Montessori classroom. This position would be working with children ages 3 years old - 6 years old. Hours will be 8:30 - 4:00pm Monday through Friday. We follow the Canandaigua School Calendar and are closed during holidays and breaks.
Responsibilities Include:
Help to create and foster a loving and nurturing environment to facilitate the individual needs of the children.
Assist children in their learning, organizing materials or completing tasks.
Responsible for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times.
Assist the lead teacher in preparing notes and evaluation of children for conferences.
Develop a professional relationship with other staff, be responsive to coverage needs and assist other staff as needed.
Assist with other projects, programs and planning as assigned by the Director.
Participate in the school programs: Open Houses, Fundraisers and community Building Activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
Have a love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
Lift a minimum of 40 lbs
Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.
Ability to build relationships with families, staff and create a dynamic environment
Outstanding communication skills
Must meet state-specific guidelines for the role; high school diploma and a minimum of two years experience working with children under the age of 6 years.
