What does the IT Data Management Lead do?
The IT Data Management Lead will collaborate with Information Security and Compliance in jointly developing, implementing and overseeing data standards and best practices to enable the bank wide use of data. Additionally, this person will be responsible for ensuring data quality, data lineage and data stewardship. They will work closely with Information Security and Compliance to ensure that the appropriate security and compliance practices are implemented across the organization. This role requires close collaboration with IT, Information Security, business leaders, and data stewards to develop and execute a comprehensive data management strategy that aligns with the bank’s business goals. The successful candidate will also be responsible for evaluating and implementing tools and technologies to enhance data management capabilities.
Essential Duties
Data Architecture and Quality:
- Design and maintain an effective data architecture that supports the bank's requirements.
- Establish and monitor data quality standards to maintain accurate and reliable data.
Data Quality Management:
- Overseeing processes to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Coordinating with teams to establish data cleansing, validation, and monitoring procedures.
Data Stewardship Coordination:
- Assigning and managing data stewards or custodians across departments.
- Facilitating collaboration between stewards to resolve data-related issues and enforce governance standards.
Metadata Management:
- Overseeing the creation and maintenance of metadata repositories to ensure data is well-documented and easily discoverable.
- Ensure standardized definitions and classifications are appropriately applied to data assets.
Data Access and Security:
- Collaborating with IT, IT Security, and Information Security teams to implement controls like encryption or access restrictions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Facilitating training and awareness programs to promote a data-driven culture.
Data Lifecycle Management:
- Coordinating strategies for data creation, storage, archiving, and deletion.
- Ensuring obsolete data is disposed of responsibly and in compliance with retention policies.
Tool and Technology Oversight:
- Managing the selection and implementation of data management tools (e.g., data catalogs, lineage trackers).
- Ensuring integration with existing systems like databases or analytics platforms.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Tracking key metrics (e.g., data quality scores, compliance rates) and reporting progress to stakeholders.
- Adjusting management strategies based on performance insights or emerging needs.
What is needed to be successful in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration or related field required.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on IT or technology management, or a Master’s in Information Systems/Technology highly desirable
- A minimum of five (5) years’ working in data governance, data management, IT analytics or similar discipline.
- Experience with data management tools (i.e.Collibra, Atlan, Alation, OvalEdge, etc.) and enterprise data management platforms is a plus
- Strong understanding of data frameworks, policies, and compliance regulations.
- Knowledge of data architecture, databases, data modeling, and data quality management.
- Proven experience in navigating complex organizations, creative problem solving and effective relationship management.
- Experience in Financial Services and understanding of Banking Regulations strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and soft skills
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) required within the first year.

Compensation range target- $100,000 - $126,000
The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, and performance expectations.
