What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting/Bookkeeping Specialist position at Cancer Resources for Elkhart County, Inc.?
Cancer Resources for Elkhart County is a private, independent, nonprofit organization that helps Elkhart County cancer patients with planning, referrals, emotional support, and direct financial support. Cancer Resources is looking for a part-time Accounting/Bookkeeping Specialist to join our team.
The focus of the Specialist would be a wide variety of standard accounting and bookkeeping duties, some of which might include journal entries, bank reconciliations, preparing deposits, processing and entering transactions, preparing donor thank you letters, and issuing checks for clients, bills, and payroll. Report preparation would include fundraiser summaries and preparing materials four our annual 990 federal filing to be sent to our accounting firm. Other payroll duties would be monthly, quarterly, and year end filings, as well as preparing W2s, and a general knowledge of HR. The specialists should have a working knowledge of Quickbooks, and Microsoft products, especially Excel.
Ideally, we hope for someone who believes in our mission, because day-to-day activities in our small office would mean interacting with our cancer clients and their families, donors, volunteers, vendors, and the community at large.
The specialist will be involved with four annual fundraising events, including helping with preparation, organizing volunteers, working the event, inputting transactions, and generating thank you letters to supporters. The Specialist will assist in light office care and work on various projects that come along. So, the specialist needs to be organized, consistent, and accurate.
Candidates will be able to get along with people of all backgrounds, be compassionate, understanding, and patient with our clients who are going through one of the most stressful times in their lives. We envision 18 to 20 hours per week and three to five years of bookkeeping/accounting experience is required. Interviews will begin in January 2025.
