What You Will Do:

The Employment Specialist provides employment services to the job seekers (clients) of Candeo. Functions independently within the constraints of organizational policy and procedure to assure that clients receive the highest quality services possible.

1. Works directly with job seekers who experience varying impacts of disability to obtain integrated employment in their community at minimum wage or above.

2. Develops and maintains regular business contacts in the job seeker’s community that produce employment outcomes.

3. Uses established supported employment techniques to offer an array of employment services, including job analysis, labor market analysis, Discovery, Customized Employment, and systematic instruction.

4. Evaluates job seeker skills, abilities, conditions, and contributions and matches with employer’s requirements.

5. Use information learned about a job seeker to develop a plan toward meaningful employment and determine a list of employers.

6. Have general understanding of financial supports job seekers may receive including Supplemental Security Income and Social Security Disability Insurance in addition to providing any support needed around reporting and monitoring wages.

7. Demonstrates knowledge of person-centered planning and the understanding and implementation of the client’s life plan, in accordance with client’s preferences.

8. Ability to manage multiple time demands balancing a case load of up to 20 job seekers.

9. Ability to understand billing guidelines and capture billing appropriate for position and caseload.

10. Set up on-going post-employment supports and monitor the employment relationship to ensure satisfaction of both the individual and the employer.

11. Displays integrity, trust and follow through in all stakeholder interactions.

12. Follows established safety practices and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for clients and the organization.



Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience, preferably in human services, sociology, psychology, education, human resources, marketing, sales or business
  • Experience in working with individuals with disabilities
  • Licenses/Requirements:
    • Valid Class C Iowa Driver’s License.
    • Proof of Automobile Insurance.
    • Must pass required background checks.
    • Access to a reliable computer and internet for documentation, or ability to travel to a location with access.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal skills, compassion, and sensitivity while maintaining professional boundaries.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to obtain an Employment Specialist Training certificate
    • Ability to sit for exam and obtain Certified Employment Specialist Professional (CESP) or equivalent certification and/or pass ACRE accredited training.
    • Ability to learn working knowledge of the trending labor market
    • Ability to work successfully, unsupervised.
    • Ability to negotiate and handle conflict as necessary
    • Ability to travel in counties served by Candeo
