Our client is seeking a seasoned senior accountant to join their team. In this role, you will undertake the analysis of intricate financial records and reports, overseeing the accuracy of financial transactions. Your expertise will ensure the maintenance of precise ledgers, account balancing, and the verification of bank statements on behalf of the company. Proficiency in electronic ledger systems is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile electronic data and essential documentation to assess liability, asset, and capital accounts.
- Prepare comprehensive financial status and transaction reports, including profit and loss statements and other pertinent reports.
- Adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, interpreting both existing and new legislations.
- Develop an accounting policy and regulations Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual, implementing reconciliation procedures.
- Enhance the finance department's audit system through the introduction of novel policies and procedures.
- Mentor junior accountants and staff, providing guidance and coordinating informative sessions.
- Oversee tax compliance, encompassing sales, use, personal, and motor vehicle taxes, as well as reviewing contracts.
- Contribute significantly to the company's financial management, involving account reconciliations and relevant reporting.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a senior accountant capacity.
- Over 5 years of experience managing Intercompany transactions and conducting reconciliations in preparation for audits.
- Familiarity with International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) tax returns and specialized motor vehicle taxes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to supervise up to five junior-level team members.
- Proficiency in state and federal tax filing and compliance.
- History of creating budgets for departmental needs, including coordinating team training and certifications.
- Thorough understanding of financial application security and confidentiality policies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities and effective communication skills.
- Capacity to manage a high volume of tasks with precision.
- Proven ability to collaborate with other company departments, organizing training sessions and disseminating information.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
