Cetera Financial Group (CFG) is seeking an Associate Corporate Development Specialist to support Cetera’s Corporate Development team that is highly acquisitive across a variety of investment structures, from both equity and debt financing to fund controlling and minority investments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with seasoned corporate development professionals, key executives, and Cetera’s private equity sponsor, Genstar Capital, on a high volume of transactions providing an excellent path for rapid professional development.
Responsibilities for the role include evaluation of strategic initiatives and specifically supporting the execution of mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, and divestitures. In this capacity, they will support senior team members spearheading various analytical efforts within the group while developing and managing relationships with key leaders/stakeholders within various business units.
What you will do:
- Perform financial analysis, valuation, and due diligence of potential acquisitions.
- Prepare deliverables and recommendations to senior Corporate Development team members related to potential acquisitions, including financial models and supporting materials.
- Maintain and/or build complex and detailed financial, valuation, and LBO models as appropriate.
- Assist cross-functional teams and external advisors through the acquisition processes including due diligence, strategic analysis, valuation, synergy identification, contracting, etc.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams involved in acquisitions processes, including legal, finance & accounting, human resources, etc.
- Help to identify strategic investment opportunities across the broker-dealer, RIA, wealth management, and financial technology sectors.
- Develop the strategic rationale for acquisitions or divestitures.
- Engage and manage transactions directly with private sellers.
- Work with senior leaders, finance management, and peers on strategic and ad hoc projects.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 2-3 years of investment banking, private equity, or equivalent corporate development experience with exposure to the financial services industry.
- Demonstrated MS Excel and financial modeling skills, including direct experience building complex three-statement forecast models, including but not limited to acquisition models using leverage and a variety of valuation methods (e.g., DCF, LBO, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills together with expert proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Highly motivated with demonstrated experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented team environment.
- This individual will be a hybrid employee based out of New York, NY, or Los Angeles, CA.
What is nice to have:
- Direct financial services industry experience within Wealth Management is helpful, but not required.
- Familiarity with Private Equity sponsors and related deal structures is helpful, but not required.
Travel Requirements:
- 5% (i.e., minimal travel).
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $130,000 plus competitive performance-based bonus. Compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific office location. Compensation ranges may differ in differing locations due to cost of labor considerations.
