Job Summary
Directs and develops Team Leaders and other Teammates in the execution of the group’s responsibilities. Manages group as an operational unit responsible to accomplish company goals and targets in accordance with all company policies, procedures, methods and quality standards for safety, product quality, customer satisfaction, accuracy, productivity, cost reduction, housekeeping, efficiency, training, teamwork and morale.
Preferred Qualifications: Leadership experience in an Acute Care setting.
Essential Functions
- Lead, supervise, administer, plan and support the development and coordination of teammates, process improvements and support therapy operation on all shifts.
- Teach and develop direct reports to perform their roles.
- Lead daily huddle and weekly leader huddle.
- Develop solutions for complex problems based on facts, observations, experience and judgment and escalate problems as needed. Coach and develop direct reports to lead problem solving activities.
- Ensures the quality of therapy in area of responsibility. Investigates quality issues and implements permanent countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence. Documents abnormal conditions or quality issues and provides feedback to appropriate personnel concerning quality issues.
- Performs basic administrative functions, including budget assistance, adherence to budget and human resource duties such as hiring, performance evaluations and corrective action.
- A minimum of 30% of each day is focused on continuous improvement.
- Identify sources of waste; develop and implement plans to eliminate sources of waste.
- Daily activities will include ensuring standard work can be followed, monitoring safety and quality and facilitating support for teammates for process troubleshooting.
- Participate in the development of targets and processes to achieve department and company goals. Work with management, teammates and technical specialists to improve safety, quality, reliability, equipment run time, operating practices and cost. Actively supports management in the development and achievement of section targets.
- Communicate direction, plans and goals. Lead the implementation of tactics required to meet organizational goals.
- Identify the need for equipment and testing process improvement activities.
- Coordinate projects with management, teammates, technical specialists and other departments.
Physical Requirements
- Must speak good English and possess sense of sight, (corrected) hearing, smell and touch. Transfer patients laterally 100lbs., lift patients up to 50lbs. Sitting, standing and walking throughout the day, additionally stair climbing, kneeling, twisting, bending and on occasion crouching, crawling and reaching overhead. Fast pace clinical environment, work primarily indoors, but occasionally outdoors. Must be able to push patients in a wheelchair or on a stretcher.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy or a Master's in Speech Therapy from an accredited school of OT, PT or ST required. Must be licensed in the state of North Carolina or eligible for reciprocity. A minimum of two years of work related hospital experience required in physical, occupational or speech therapy.
