Job Summary
Responsible for supervising the mammography staff and performs mammography examinations. Ensures the quality and continuity of daily workflow and consistently provides an optimal patient care experience for patients.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates and organizes the patient flow throughout the department, prioritizing and shifting workloads as needed.
- Obtains medications, radiopharmaceuticals or contrast materials as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner, authorized/certified technologist or registered nurse.
- Teaches new procedures and keeps technical staff informed of all matters pertaining to procedure changes or development.
- Prepares performance evaluations on technical team members.
- Provides documentation and reports on equipment and supply needs, physician requests, complaints and routine operational issues.
- Maintains a high level of technical proficiency in regards to system management, advanced applications and current applications of the modality.
- Troubleshoots equipment or procedure problems with appropriate follow-up to service engineers.
- Reviews and critiques quality control tests, image artifacts or computer malfunctions to determine the need for service and maintenance.
Physical Requirements
This position requires to frequently stretch, bend, twist, squat and kneel in performing diagnostic procedures. Lifting, pushing, pulling and gripping may be required for positioning patients or equipment. Vision and hearing for distances of at least 20 feet is necessary. Must be able to carry up to 25 pounds while stocking supplies or relocating equipment. Significant walking will be required as 50% of work time will be standing and 50% work time will be operating computers and equipment. Precision manual dexterity is required for venipuncture and manipulating needles, syringes and other patient care items.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Successful completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology program leading to an A.S. Degree or Diploma. ARRT registered in radiology as well as Mammography. 2 years experience as a staff technologist showing progressive responsibility in the clinical setting. Bi-lingual preferred.
