Continuous Improvement Engineer
MATALCO (U.S.) – Are you a driving force who not only understands but flourishes in making things happen? Our Continuous Improvement Engineer will play an integral part in leading, supporting, and coordinating hands-on process improvement actions focused on the growth and development of the Matalco production system.
Qualifications
BS in technical discipline or BS in industrial, mechanical, or other engineering discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Minimum of two years of continuous improvement related work.
Certifications
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
Job Specific Knowledge
Demonstrated understanding and successful application of continuous improvement tools and techniques, including Lean and Six Sigma.
Proficient in data collection, analysis, and decision-making, utilizing data software packages such as Excel and Minitab.
Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and lead improvement workshops (Kaizen) and projects utilizing continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
Drive and promote data driven process standardization, optimization, and innovation aligned with the continuous improvement strategic plan.
Foster a safety-focused culture of trust and teamwork between and within facilities and departments impacted by improvement projects.
Analyze key performance metrics (KPIs) for trends.
Identify process improvement opportunities and develop visual communication systems, reports, and dashboards to capture and convey the impact of continuous improvement accomplishments.
Deliver continuous improvement training, coaching, and mentoring to facilitate knowledge sharing, growth, and development.
Lead improvement projects focused on key plant metrics such as safety, quality, cycle time, delivery, and equipment downtime to generate growth opportunities and positive impact on company financials.
Collaborate and align with the leadership team to promote a culture of continuous improvement and positive change; challenge and change paradigms that inhibit the development and growth of continuous improvement efforts.
Communicate with various levels of employees, discuss observations and needed improvements, report issues, collaborate and share information.
Drive operational reliability throughout the entire facility.
Drive 5S standardization.
Working Conditions
Eight-hour days, including off-shift work, to address business needs.
Ability to work overtime as needed.
Normal office environment 65% of the time; plant and/or outside work 35% of the time.
Frequent exposure to loud noises and extreme ambient temperatures, depending upon the season.
Periodic domestic travel required.
May include international travel, with a passport required.
