What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager in Training (LEAP Program) position at Canfor?
Canfor's LEAP (Leadership Exposure Acceleration Program) is a 12-month fast-tracked technical and leadership program to advance your career path within Canfor's operations.
We're getting ready to accept applications in early January 2023.
Are you a strong leader who enjoys a good challenge and wants to learn more about our business? Taking part in LEAP will help you gain knowledge of our entire operation, from procurement to shipping, and prepare you to be the next exceptional leader at Canfor.
Upon graduation, you'll be placed in a supervisory role at one of our mills based on your interests and business needs.
In this program you will:
- Develop leadership skills, supported by supervisors, advisors, and mentors
- Gain knowledge in multiple areas of the industry through a full job rotation
- Drive practical improvements by leading your own operations project
- Build the skills you'll need through bi-weekly training and career planning support
- Earn an Industrial Wood Processing certificate through BCIT
Who you are:
- College or University graduate
- 3 years of leadership experience
- Responsible, hardworking, and self-motivated
- Willing to work on all shifts, in all conditions
- Hunger for a challenge, eager to learn
- Comfortable with ambiguity
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Flexibility to work from any of our operations
