Summary of Position Mission
The position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of our employees, and visitors, and the overall integrity of our operations. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive EHS programs and protocols to mitigate risks associated with the manufacturing and handling of firearms. The primary objective is to create and maintain a safe working environment that aligns with industry regulations, company policies, and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage site ISO certification efforts, working with site management to ensure proper resources are in place to maintain and/or obtain certifications in 9001, 22001, 14001, 45001, 50001, and others that may apply.
- Oversee site Sustainability data collection and internal reporting.
- Stay abreast of local, state, and federal regulations related to life safety, ensuring the facility consistently adheres to all relevant standards and guidelines.
- Responsible for maintaining Environmental compliance with State, County, and local regulations
- Responsible for maintaining and obtaining all necessary permits for Environmental compliance with State, County, and local regulations
- Interact as necessary with Environmental consultants to ensure compliance with all regulations
- Provide leadership and direction to achieve the EHS vision by engaging management, developing working relationships with Area Supervision, and promoting employee ownership and decision rights
- Develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs for employees, covering topics such as firearm handling safety, emergency response procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment. Foster a culture of safety awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, human resources, and legal departments, to integrate EHS considerations into various aspects of the business. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, fostering a culture of transparency and shared responsibility. Provide team members with work assignments, training, feedback, coaching, support, and development opportunities, ensuring that knowledge experts are in place for each subject matter area.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk incorporating industry best practices and innovative safety technologies.
- Manage and report leading and lagging metrics to guide the EHS performance of the facility.
- Engage in capital and expense project planning and execution to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Ensure the development, improvement, and implementation of training systems to meet regulatory requirements and facility needs, utilizing qualified instructors and trainers.
- Coordinate an active investigation team to participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development and implementation.
- Design and oversee emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire drills, and fire aid protocols. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure swift and effective responses to potential crises.
- Ensures EHS records are managed in accordance with records management and the applicable EHS standards.
- Collaborate with the facilities management team to ensure that fire suppression systems, alarms, and other EHS infrastructure are properly maintained and tested. Implement improvements as needed to enhance the overall safety of the facility.
- Respond to security alarm calls as necessary.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
