Compensation: Salary: $ 2850 for the 4-week program period
The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) provides a broad range of services to New York State residents who, because of educational and economic circumstances, would otherwise be unable to attend a post-secondary educational institution. Students receive academic and financial support. The four (4) week HEOP Scholars Academy is an essential component of the program as it is designed to build on the assets and strengths of incoming first-year undergraduates.
Position Overview:
This position will be 10 hours per week from July 7, 2025 until August 1, 2025. This position provides engaging, creative, and interactive instruction and coursework to HEOP pre-freshman students who have received a New York State high school diploma. The instructor will prepare students for MAT 105-Finite Mathematics. The instructor will adopt a syllabus to cover a variety of topics, including algebraic equations, linear, polynomial, rational inequalities, etc.
Compensation:
Salary: $ 2850 for the 4-week program period
Position Description:
- Being available to teach a math course 5 days a week, Monday- Friday.
- Attending weekly staff meetings with the HEOP team and other professors from the program.
- Attending orientation with HEOP staff members.
- Provide weekly grade and behavioral reports during staff meetings.
- Provide a final exam and grades for the students through the summer program.
- Provide a syllabus of what will be taught during the summer program.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with students from underserved communities, economically and academically
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in education, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience in teaching content area within a high school or college setting
- The ability to implement interactive lesson plans and skills in classroom management
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
