Job Purpose
As a Battery Pack Test Engineer, you will be part of Canoo's Battery Pack Team within the Propulsion group and will be responsible for the electrical and mechanical testing of Battery Cells, Battery Modules, and Battery Pack and Energy Storage Systems. As the Battery Pack Test Engineer, you will be expected to communicate cross-functionally across all engineering disciplines to engineers and deliver high-quality Battery Pack and Energy Storage Solutions(s) for vehicle production.
Responsibilities (80s of the Position)
- Test battery cells Electrical and Mechanical (Including Thermal) performance
- Test battery Module and Battery Pack design and components including Battery Disconnect Units, DC / DC Converter Battery Modules and Mechanical and Thermal Battery Pack components.
- Support battery testing activities such as Performance, Reliability, Safety, and Regulatory Tests
- Develop detailed test plans for battery systems and components based on vehicle technical specifications, exploratory test requests and industry standards
- Perform developmental test cases to explore the boundary performance of battery systems
- Creation of automated test scripts to validate battery features and functions
- Record and analyze test data, document test findings, and support root cause analysis and issue resolution efforts
- Develop in-house software and hardware tools required to monitor battery systems safely and consistently during testing
- Design Tests Harnesses and test stand concepts, fabrication drawings, and instrumentation lists
- Select and create specifications for components, tools, and setups to conduct various battery tests
- Manage the vehicle validation process activities during the product design lifecycle from product concept to production launch
- Specify data collection requirements and ensure test setups and test equipment gather specified data. Correlate life testing to life predictions, refining analysis / models, and collaborating with CAE engineers.
