Position Title: Pastry Supervisor
Department: Bakery/Pastry
Reports To: Executive Chef
Salary: $24/hr
Position Summary: The Pastry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pastry section, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality baked goods and desserts. The supervisor will lead a team of pastry cooks and ensure that all products meet the required standards of quality, taste, and presentation while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and adherence to food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Leadership:
o Supervise, train, and mentor pastry team members to ensure smooth operations and the production of high-quality pastry items.
o Assist with scheduling, delegating tasks, and ensuring that daily pastry production meets business demand.
o Ensure all team members are properly trained in pastry techniques, kitchen safety, and hygiene protocols.
- Production & Quality Control:
o Oversee the preparation, baking, and finishing of a wide variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods, pizza dough. Will be in charge of the outlets and BQTS & pizza dough for pizza window.
o Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, ensuring stock is maintained and ordering is done in a timely manner.
o Ensure all products are consistently of high quality, with attention to detail in presentation, texture, and taste.
o Ensure the proper use of kitchen equipment and utensils, maintaining all tools and machines in good working condition.
- Collaboration & Communication:
o Work closely with the Executive chef and other kitchen staff to develop new products and refine existing recipes, the rotation of product will be based on seasonality.
o Maintain open communication with other kitchen departments to ensure smooth service, especially during peak times.
- Hygiene & Food Safety:
o Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all food safety and sanitation regulations.
o Enforce adherence to food handling, storage, and cleanliness standards to ensure the safety of the staff and customers.
o Oversee the cleaning and maintenance of pastry equipment and work areas.
- Customer Focus:
o Assist in creating visually appealing displays and presentations for pastries in alignment with the hotel’s standards.
o Ensure that customer orders are fulfilled on time and according to specifications, with an emphasis on quality and accuracy.
- Administrative Tasks:
o Assist with the management of costs by minimizing waste, controlling portions, and maintaining inventory.
o Participate in the development of menu items and specials, keeping up to date with pastry trends and innovations.
o Report on any issues related to equipment, inventory, or staffing to management.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a pastry chef, baker, or in a similar role, with at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory position.
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, dessert preparation, and baking methods.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
- Solid understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing demands.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- A culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
Work Schedule:
- The position may require early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of the business.
