Director, Medical Communications
Position Overview:
The role involves developing and managing the strategic planning and execution of scientific communications strategies, medical communications initiatives, and scientific training materials. The Director will collaborate with internal partners on scientific content development, and support cross-functional teams (Clinical Development, Market Access, etc.). This individual will be a proven leader with experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute communication strategies for medical/scientific messaging.
- Oversee medical communication deliverables and ensure strategic alignment.
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs leadership team to develop objectives, strategies, and plans.
- Ensure all medical content is scientifically accurate and aligns with regulatory standards.
- Develop training materials for medical team onboarding and education.
- Manage relationships with external medical communications vendors.
- Assist with budgeting and contract execution as needed.
Supervisory Role:
Manages a team and reports to a senior leader in Medical Information and Communications. Collaborates with internal departments and external partners.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Advanced degree in a scientific field; doctorate preferred.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in Medical Affairs or communications.
- Expertise in literature analysis, technical communication, and strategic content development.
- Proficiency in MS Office and digital tools; experience with medical website development.
Key Skills:
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.
- Knowledge of therapeutic areas, particularly in postsurgical pain management or surgical disciplines, is preferred.
Salary Range - $195,000 to $200,000 (Dependent upon experience)
