Dietary Technician - Position Overview:
- The Dietary Technician is responsible for preparing and cooking large volume, quality meals in a timely manner for PRTF youth and School Day students.
- The Dietary Technician shall promote and maintain a clean and safe environment at all times under the management and supervision of the Dietary Manager.
- Must display knowledge of Policies and Procedures relating to dietary and have working knowledge of Dietary, Safety and Infection Control plans and documentation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assure that all meals are prepared and served three times daily, as appropriate, for CARES Center residents and School Day students.
- Prepare meals for transportation as needed.
- Be familiar with Child Nutrition, DOH, and Medicaid standards and follow Offer vs. Serve guidelines and practices.
- Assure that all meals are prepared under safe and sanitary conditions without contamination.
- Maintains portion and cost control, using standardized recipes and measuring.
- Provide for special dietary needs as directed by Dietary Manager and/or Registered Dietician.
- Provides diets and snacks as directed by physician orders.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment at all times in Kitchen and Dining Area.
- Wash, sanitize and stores clean dishes after each meal.
- Monitor and document temperature of all fridge and freezers on a daily basis.
- Participates in the safety and infection control activities as directed.
- Participate in monthly supervision with Dietary Manager.
- Participate in monthly dietary team meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; or three years’ experience cooking in a health care environment or with childhood nutrition.
- Must have a basic understanding of dietary requirements.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Must be at least twenty-one years old and possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to be covered by organization insurance provider.
