The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for assisting in overseeing nursing operations, managing staff scheduling, leading infectious disease preventions, psychotropic monitoring and intervention and directing wound program. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations while optimizing patient care and staff utilization. The Nurse Supervisor collaborates closely with the Director of Nursing (DON), healthcare teams, and administrative leadership to maintain a high standard of care and operational efficiency across a skilled nursing setting.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Nursing Administration and Supervision
- Assists the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, and directing nursing department operations to ensure quality care.
- Supervises nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and Resident Assistants, handling training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures, including infection control, antibiotic stewardship, and psychotropic medication use.
- Directly oversees and manages the wound care program, ensuring accurate assessments, treatments, and education for staff, residents, and families.
- Participates in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings, leading initiatives in infection prevention, wound care, and psychotropic medication management.
- Provides emergency leadership and serves as an on-call resource for the nursing department.
