Reports to: SUPERVISOR OF TRANSPORTATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pass yearly physical examination
- Hold at least a valid Class B CDL with a school bus and passenger endorsement with not more than 4 points
- Meet all minimum state school bus operator requirements
- Ability to work without supervision
- Cooperate and get along with others
- Honesty
- Work as a member of a team
- Knowledge of the streets of the City of Canton
- Knowledge of the locations of Canton City Schools and buildings
The responsibilities of a Bus Driver include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Obeys all traffic laws
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
- Maintains discipline with the students
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority
- Keeps assigned bus clean
- Keeps to the assigned schedule
- Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects
- Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness
- Discharges students only at designated stops
- Performs other duties as assigned
