Canton High School is seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as the Speech and Language Pathologist for the upcoming school year beginning in August 2025.  The Speech and Language Pathologist will join a vibrant and supportive team that places a high priority on collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and commitment to the goals of the District and to our students, families and staff.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides speech and language therapy treatment to students with identified needs. Administers speech and language assessments to determine a student’s level of functioning relative to their age and educational placement in such areas as expensive and receptive language, functional communication, social pragmatics, and articulation.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services and programs within the educational environment through creativity and resourcefulness which lends to the educational growth and development of targeted students.
  2. Supervise, evaluate and support SLPAs, including participating in recruitment, screening and hiring of SLPAs
  3. Coordinate effective therapy presentation techniques, and reviewing, correcting, and reinforcing instructional lessons to enhance the learning and retention process.
  4. Serve as a member of the Special Education Team in writing educational plans and progress reports, and completing assessments within the required timelines.
  5. Follow the student IEP and ensure compliance with state and federal SPED regulations, including the delivery of high quality services, the provision of accommodations/modifications for instruction and assessment.
  6. Participate in the identification and referral process for students requiring speech services.
  7. Evaluate, diagnose, and treat communication disorders in students
  8. Prepare written reports upon the completion of an evaluation.
  9. Attend team meetings, section 504 meetings, and student support process meetings.
  10. Communicate and collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, and other school personnel to provide recommendations for class accommodations, modifications, and appropriate referrals
  11. Develop and implement goals as specified in the student’s Individualized Educational Program or 504 Accommodation Plan.
  12. Monitor and document progress towards IEP goals, 504 Plans, and intervention plans.
  13. Create and coordinate a schedule of services for students to ensure all IEP requirements are met.
  14. Assist teams in considering and planning for the implementation of AAC devices, supports, and services across school, home, workplace, and/or community environments
  15. Perform other duties specifically articulated within the collective bargaining agreement as assigned by building principal and/or District administration

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Master’s degree in speech language pathology
  2. Must hold valid and current certification and licensure to provide speech language services to students in MA public schools.
  3. At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
  4. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
  5. Successful completion of a CORI and fingerprinting background check

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and Building Principal and Assistant and/or Director of Student Services

 

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable

 

WORK YEAR: 183 days

 

COMPENSATION: Per the Union A Collective Barginning Agreement
