Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring the highest standards of care.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Monitor animal vital signs and provide critical care as needed.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Provide proper animal restraint during examinations and procedures to ensure safety for both the animal and staff.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and training techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Support animal husbandry practices, including feeding, grooming, and general care of animals in the facility.
- Participate in continuing education to stay current with veterinary best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician or similar role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care protocols and laboratory procedures.
- Experience in equine care is a plus but not required.
- Skills in pet grooming and basic dog training are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
