Responsibilities:
The summer program is scheduled to begin in June 2025 in New York City and will run for 7 weeks.
Interns will work specifically in the SEC and Corporate Governance group, under the supervision of attorneys and paralegals. Interns will be staffed on tasks related to SEC filings, corporate governance matters, and other long-term corporate and transactional projects supporting Cantor’s affiliated public company entities: BGC Group, Inc. and Newmark Group, Inc.
Our intention is for you to be exposed to work and assignments full-time paralegals and attorneys see on a regular basis. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Supporting the creation of board materials and governance-related documentation;
- Assisting in the organization of board and committee meetings, the annual meeting of shareholders, as well as other meetings or events from time to time;
- Assisting in the preparation and review of the public company corporate governance policies, procedures, and charters;
- Conducting research on corporate governance trends and best practices;
- Learning how to draft and review corporate resolutions, minutes, SEC filings, and other corporate and transactional documents;
- Gaining exposure to investor relations practices; and
- Familiarize yourself with the legal and regulatory frameworks surrounding corporate governance.
Development: SEC and Corporate Governance Summer Interns will be provided with the tools and training they need to develop and grow their careers. Interns are provided ample opportunities to network with colleagues both in the SEC and Corporate Governance group and across other divisions of Cantor Fitzgerald. Midway through the summer, you will be given constructive feedback on your performance and receive the support you need to ensure you walk away with a solid understanding of the role of a paralegal and/or attorney in a corporate governance and transactional position.
Qualifications:
All undergraduate students, regardless of major or area of study, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 are invited to apply. We typically look for the following in our candidates:
- Previous internships in a professional services or financial services industry;
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills;
- Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to take instruction and run with projects;
- The ability to work in a team environment but also thrive in an entrepreneurial culture;
- Strong technology skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and other office-related software;
- Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills to work in a client-oriented atmosphere; and
- Self-starters who display initiative, drive, motivation, and leadership
Salary: $25.00/hour
The expected hourly salary for this position is $25.00 an hour. The actual hourly salary will be determined on an individualized basis taking into account a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, and, where applicable, licenses or certifications held.
