What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Engineer position at Cantrell Gainco?
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and optimize internal manufacturing processes to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve throughput in support of equipment builds.
- Develop and revise production layouts, workflow strategies, and cell-based designs to maximize space utilization and equipment/fabrication efficiency.
- Conduct time and motion studies, labor optimization assessments, and capacity analyses across multiple production lines.
- Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other industrial engineering methodologies.
- Collaborate with production, fabrication, warehouse, quality, and engineering teams to improve shop floor operations and minimize rework.
- Implement and maintain standardized work procedures, visual controls, and process documentation.
- Assist in capital project planning, equipment upgrades, and facility layout changes to support business growth.
- Monitor key plant performance indicators and recommend data-driven solutions to improve output and reduce cost.
- Provide engineering support for safety and ergonomic improvements across workstations and material handling processes.
- Contribute to manufacturing readiness planning for new product launches.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; preference for food processing or custom equipment manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) for facility and equipment layout development.
- Strong analytical skills, including experience with Excel, Power BI, or other data tools for performance tracking.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to influence change at all levels.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Project management experience or certification
- Experience with material flow in a warehouse environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Work Environment:
This is a plant-based role requiring frequent time on the production floor. Must be comfortable working around fabrication equipment, assembly operations, and occasionally visiting customer poultry processing facilities for process alignment or field support.
