Overview
The Controller is responsible for managing the overall accounting and financial functions within the company including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Financial Reporting, Payroll processing, Sales Tax filing, Sales and Margin Reporting, Contractor License management and driving productivity and profitability reporting for the company. In addition, the Controller will coordinate with Sales and Manufacturing to maintain accounting, finance, sales and purchasing segments of the company’s ERP system, Business Central. The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the CFO, Sales, Purchasing and Manufacturing to manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable including Capital / Service Sales Orders, Vendor Invoice Processing and Payments, Customer Invoicing, cash posting and Financial Indicator reporting (e.g., Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Daily Cash, Profitability Reports).
- Work within the company ERP (Microsoft Business Central) and Payroll (Proliant) systems to intake, maintain and update data related to Customers, Vendors, Contractors and Employees.
- Complete the monthly financial report package, participate in regular meetings and be prepared to discuss or drive conversations related to financial performance, management activities and other related topics.
- Drive daily activities of three employees responsible for processing transactions related to Customer Orders and Invoicing and Vendor Purchase Orders and Invoice processing.
- Work with the Payroll System (Proliant) to onboard new employees, work with employees to maintain their current information, and process payroll on a weekly basis. This includes Payroll posting to the General Ledger and weekly reporting for 401K / Roth deductions and employee match data.
- Work with the CFO and the CPA firm to provide information and/or complete quarterly / annual tax filing requirements for such categories as sales tax, 1099 reporting, state filing registrations and other activities required by federal, state and local governments.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field. CPA Certiifcation preferred.
- Experience working in a Controller or Accounting Management field.
- Experience managing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Financial Reporting.
- General knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles related to local, state and federal tax reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint including independence with creating spreadsheets, reports and presentations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to priority and manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the company.
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Knowledge of Business Central or Microsoft Dynamics preferred.
