What you'll do
The Lending Services Specialist II is responsible for creating an exceptional member experience by processing loan documents for home equity loans, auto loans, credit cards and signature loans in a timely and accurate manner. The Lending Services Specialist II will work with members and Canvas family members for all channels including the branches, communication center and online to collect documents, verify documents meet underwriting stipulations and create closing documents.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Contact members within agreed service level agreements to obtain needed documentation.
- Process consumer loan applications within established guidelines, policies, procedures and timelines.
- Provide an exceptional experience to our members and Canvas family members in alignment with Canvas’ core values.
- Review each loan application to ensure that all required information has been recorded.
- Consistently maintain Service Level Agreements for contacting members and scheduling loan closings.
- Request and review residential appraisals to ensure documentation meets underwriting stipulations.
- Request and review residential title policies to ensure correct lien position.
- Request and review income documentation provided by borrowers.
- Create accurate documentation for loan closings.
- Accurately prepare documents for lien releases.
- Facilitate the clearing of all underwriting conditions by working with branch Canvas family, third party vendors, and members.
- Research and resolve internal and external member issues in a timely, consistent and professional manner.
- Serve as a lending point of contact for branches and communication center.
- Actively promote and contribute to the achievement of organizational goals.
- Comply with all related compliance requests and requirements.
- Follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard member and organization assets.
- Recommend and help develop and implement new policies and procedures.
- Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate filing system.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain programs, loan terms, features, policies and benefits to members and business partners.
- Strong relationship building and teamwork skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of Canvas’ financial products and services.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Ability to calculate APR, debt to income ratios, loan values, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to maintain confidences.
- Multi-lingual capabilities to include Spanish are a plus.
- This role at Canvas requires National Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the S.A.F.E. Act. This means we conduct a background check to ensure NMLS registration and Canvas requirements are met. (Not meeting or staying current may result in removal from role).
- Pre-employment background review (components include: criminal, employment, address, social security number, motor vehicle record, sex offender, and global sanctions).
Education or Formal Training: High school diploma or GED; additional education and training is a plus.
Experience: One to three years of loan processing experience.
This position has a starting pay range of $23.00-$26.00/hourly, and final pay rate will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity factors.

Working Environment/Physical Activities
High volume, fast-paced, dynamic office environment with some travel. Must be able to work a flexible schedule Monday through Saturday and must be able to attend meetings and events outside of regular business hours. The job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets. The position requires bending, stooping, or standing as necessary.
