What you’ll do
The Vendor & Business Continuity Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the vendor portfolio and ensuring internal vendor management controls are in place. They will also assist with business continuity efforts, including maintaining the Business Continuity Program. The position will collaborate with ERM and Internal Audit concerning areas of vendor management and business continuity.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform annual due diligence on critical vendor relationships to review in Vender Review Committee meetings.
- Assist in the administration of Vendor Management and Business Continuity Management as directed by the Vendor and Business Continuity Manager. Provide support during examinations and audits.
- Identify and implement internal controls for the Corporate Vendor Management program.
- Manage onboarding of all new vendor relationships, facilitate input of all contracts into vendor management software and assign all contract notification reviews to vendor owner.
- Maintain compliance and documentation of vendor portfolio.
- Assist vendor owners with vendor related research requests and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Perform vendor reconciliation review for portfolio due diligence.
- Assist in business continuity testing and crisis management exercises.
- Assist in tracking incidents related to business continuity & crisis management.
- Refer contracts and vendor legal issues to AVP & General Council for review and decision making.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and facilitate the implementation of operational enhancements.
- Maintain a high level of service, consistency, and professionalism by delivering Canvas Core Values to both internal and external members.
- Actively promote and contribute to the achievement of organizational goals.
- Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests and requirements.
- Follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard member and organization assets.
- Recommend and help develop and implement new policies and procedures.
- Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Directly serves strategic initiatives set by senior leadership and the ERM team.
- Regularly exercises independent judgment on matters of significance related to Vendor management, controls, and relationships.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain programs, features, policies and procedures to Canvas family members, credit union members and business partners.
- Strong relationship building and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Skills and experience in the following areas are desirable: loan participation experience, financial institutions, familiarity with not-for-profit entities, and cost accounting principles.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of Canvas financial products and services.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word).
- Ability to maintain confidences.
- Pre-employment background review (components include criminal, employment, address, social security number, motor vehicle record, global sanctions, and sex offender).
- Current Canvas employees must be meeting performance expectations and consistently demonstrating HEART behaviors to be considered.
Education or Formal Training: Bachelor’s degree in business-related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Minimum of one year of previous vendor management and/or business continuity experience.
This position has a starting pay range of $60,000.00-$65,000.00/annual, and final pay rate will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity factors.

Working Environment/Physical Activities
High volume, fast-paced, office environment. The job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines and filing cabinets. The position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets. The position requires bending, stooping, or standing as necessary.
