Job Title: VTOL Flight Test Engineer

Location: Eglin AFB, Niceville, FL

Duties:

Supports the 413th Flight Test Squadron mission to accomplish developmental test & evaluation (DT&E) within the guidelines established in Government approved test procedures, methods of test (MOT), and go or no-go criteria. Test programs include the CV-22 Osprey and other vertical lift platforms.
Activities include participation in test planning and execution, flying as airborne test conductor, data collection and analysis, assessing systems effectiveness, and test reporting.
Reviews and comments on programmatic documents including test and evaluation master plans and qualification test procedures for systems under test.
Reviews technical specifications and system design documents. Attends test planning meetings, technical interchange meetings, and design reviews.
Provides recommendations for system performance requirements and coordinates with system program offices to define test methods and objectives.
Authors test plans and detailed procedures to execute ground and flight tests. Develops test methods, procedures, specific data requirements, and identifies instrumentation and support equipment requirements to achieve test objectives.
Provides technical advice and assistance to military test directors.
Coordinates with test ranges and ground support activities to schedule necessary test resources: airspace, ranges, facilities, etc.
Conducts test hazard analyses to brief flight safety officers on critical aspects of flight profiles.
Briefs test aircrew and support personnel on mission objectives, duties, and responsibilities for executing ground and flight test events.
Conducts and directs ground and flight test events to accomplish planned test objectives.
Analyzes test data to determine system performance and deficiencies. Writes technical reports to document results and conclusions. Briefs senior leaders and makes programmatic recommendations.
Performs other tasks as assigned by the TMAS Task Lead, within the limits of the current TMAS Performance Work Statement.
Travels to offsite locations to participate in meetings, conduct site surveys, and execute tests as required.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline and 3 - 10 years of related experience. Six years of applicable technical experience may be substituted for the BS degree (9 years total experience) or four years' experience with an associate's degree (total 7 years).This skill level typically performs all functional duties independently. Must be a self-motivated expert able to take responsibility for identifying, organizing, coordinating, and executing necessary tasks to the successful accomplishment of assigned duties.
Must be able to work as part of an integrated test team.
Must be able to work on and around aircraft during ground test activities.
Must be able to perform in-flight test conductor crewmember duties.
Must be able to obtain an FAA Class 3 medical certification (required for in-flight test conductor duties).
Must be able to effectively communicate orally and possess technical writing skills.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications is required.

Security Clearance: Must have secret security clearance.
