Job Description
JOB TITLE: Seasonal Mosquito Control Technician
CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal Full Time Non-Exempt (April 3rd to Sept 29th)
STARTING SALARY: $18.50 Licensed / $18.00 Unlicensed
SALARY RANGE: $18.00-$18.50 Per Hour
POSITION REPORTS TO: Related area Manager or their designee
JOB SUMMARY: Inspect and treat larval mosquito habitat for mosquitoes
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (consisting of, but not limited to):
- Survey assigned zone for mosquito larval sources, such as, irrigated pastures, ditches, marshy areas, sumps, water troughs, etc.
- Identify stage of larval development & apply recommended treatment
- Able to operate Motor vehicles, ATV, and ground application equipment.
- Keep record of pesticide applications.
- Set out and collect CO2 baited mosquito traps.
- Identify and prepare mosquito samples for arbovirus testing.
- Keep equipment and vehicles clean and ready for use.
- Perform equipment, facility and grounds maintenance as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in agriculture or biology preferred but not necessary
- Must acquire/maintain a valid Idaho Motor Vehicle Operators License
- Must be able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to regularly lift/carry 30 pounds and occasional lift/carry 50 pounds
- Ability to demonstrate physical stamina to frequently operate a motor vehicle; show coordination of eye/hand/foot; use fine manipulation by hand
- Ability to periodically traverse uneven ground such as fields, dirt banks, stream beds, and shallow ponds carrying equipment and materials up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to use gross manipulation by hand; carry items; perform repetitive motion associated with computer usage; climb a ladder and operate spray equipment; bend; twist; crawl; balance; lift; push; perform simple grasping; power grip; squat/crouch; kneel; reach; climb; pull
- Ability to wear protective equipment accordance to specific labels and as such ATV helmets, rubber boots, and proper work attire .
- Ability to operate specialized equipment such as all-terrain vehicles, and other mechanized equipment.
- Ability to work alone and/or without direct supervision.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $18.00 - $18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
