The Special Education Paraprofessional plays a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide support to students during classroom activities, ensuring they are engaged and participating.
- Help manage classroom behavior by implementing positive behavior management strategies.
- Facilitate communication between students and teachers, as well as among peers.
- Assist with personal care tasks as needed, including mobility support and hygiene assistance.
- Monitor student progress and report observations to the teaching staff.
- Support literacy education initiatives by helping students develop reading and writing skills.
- Collaborate with other paraprofessionals and specialists to enhance the educational experience for all students.
Skills
- Experience in childcare or working with children in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities.
- Proficiency in behavior management techniques to support positive student interactions.
- Experience working with students in a classroom environment, particularly those with special needs.
